A Very Princess-y Halloween

Ava gave Elizabeth a primer on all that is halloween over the past couple of weeks. It all really started a few months ago with halloween costume selection. Ava looked through a costume catalogue we got in the mail and picked a bright, yellow Belle dress (from the Disney cartoon, 'Beauty and the Beast'). She also helped me pick out a cute, tulip fairy princess costume for little sister, Elizabeth.
The next step was to select the perfect pumpkins for carving and decorating our porch. We always walk to the pumpkin patch at the church down the street to get our pumpkins.
Of course we had to snap a pic of the girls before getting started on the hunt for the perfect pumpkins...

Ava took her job of pumpkin hunting very seriously...
Hmmm...this one doesn't look quite right.
Now, this is more like it! She also wanted what Adam claims was the biggest pumpkin there.
Here is your pumpkin, Elizabeth.

The stroller I was pushing only held two of the three pumpkins Ava picked out. She carried the two squash she wanted, while Adam was left with the biggest pumpkin!
It was a LONG walk home for Daddy!
Ava wasn't very interested in scooping out the gooey seeds of the pumpkin.

She wanted a smiling pumpkin, "with teeth". I drew the face on and got her approval.
Daddy worked on his own relief-style of pumpkin carving. Good job. Hands off, ladies...he's taken.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon we went to check out the pumpkin patch at the Arboretum.


After Daddy got home on halloween day the girls got costumed-up and we headed out to trick-or-treat! First, we met up with some of the kids in our neighborhood for a photo op!

Then off to a few of our neighbors houses to get some candy! First stop was at our friend John's house...

John was a super-cute shark for halloween, but had decided he was done with his costume for the day.
At our next stop we ran into more neighborhood friends...

...and got some more candy!
...and some more...TRICK-OR-TREAT! Yum!

After this stop Elizabeth was pretty much done with the trick or treating, so the picture-taking was haulted. Ava had tons of fun helping hand out candy at Aunt Michelle's house and playing with Halle the doggie! It was late and our girls were completely worn out by the time we got home. Another successful halloween!

We can't wait for more halloween fun next year!
