Ava's First Haircut

I know what you must be thinking..."her FIRST haircut and she's 3 years old?!"
Yes, I finally had the nerve to get my darling's long, curly, blonde locks near scissors...plus, she REALLY needed to get those ends trimmed!

I packed both girls into the car and we went to a super-fun kids haircut place for Ava's first haircut experience. She had expressed some concern about anyone "hurting" her hair when I told her we were going to get her hair cut. I guess that would sound scary to a 3 year old who takes everything so literally!

It just so happened that the lady who cut her hair had a pink chair...SOOOO exciting for Ava

You can't see it, but under that green smock is a sucker that the hairdresser gave her...perhaps that's why Ava is smiling?!
Ava's hair was so long that the lady had to have her stand up on the ground so that she could reach the ends for cutting!
Here is an "after" shot that also shows her primping with her new makeup kit.
I really debated getting the play makeup for her because I didn't want a Jon Benet look-alike running around. My fears were relieved when I saw her apply that blue eyeshadow for the first time. I particularly like how she chose a different shade of blue for each eye. Lookin' good...
To wrap up this hair-themed entry, I thought I'd include this lovely shot of my darling husband and our youngest, Elizabeth. Note the similiarity of their hair color, texture and style. Elizabeth does have crazy, curly, long hair...but only when it's wet. The moment it starts to dry, it begins straightening all on it's own, until it's completely dry and totally straight.
